Barrio Writers Summer Workshop

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Pflugerville Public Library

Event Details

This online Barrio Writers workshop is for teens ages 13-18 in the Pflugerville area and will take place on July 6-10, 1-3 p.m. each day in a secure Webex meeting. A Pflugerville Public Library card is required. If you do not have a library card but would like to participate in the workshop, please email amandac@pflugervilletx.gov.

Barrio Writers invites youth between 13-18 years old to participate in a 1-week long college-level creative writing program founded by Sarah Rafael Garcia and led by Program Director Leticia Urieta, along with local community educators/artists which will provide youth with an opportunity to learn different forms of writing (poetry, spoken word, hip-hop, short stories, essay) and free cultural arts connections to the community.

In this workshop, teens will read various works, watch videos online, and share their own writings, which may include mature themes and content. Teens can step away from the online meeting at any point if they are not comfortable with any content or find it triggering.

Online registration is required. Space is limited. Participants are expected to participate in all five days of the workshop in order to fully engage in the community workshop experience. If you need to cancel your registration or have other questions, please email amandac@pflugervilletx.gov.

The Barrio Writers Summer Workshop is sponsored by the Friends of the Pflugerville Library.
