Art Presentation: The American Flag in Contemporary Art

In honor of Independence Day, learn how artists have manipulated and reinterpreted the American Flag as creative symbolism, occasionally garnering praise but more often criticism.  This program will occur live on Webex. Thanks to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring this program.

Presenter bio:

Michelle is primarily a pencil artist and painter of dogs and wildlife but can sew crazy quilts that will make your head spin. She holds an A.A.S. in Display and Exhibit Design from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, a B.S. in Visual Arts from the State University of New York and an M.A. in Art Education from Adelphi University. She is the illustrator of the children’s book titled “It’s OK, You Can Talk To God” written by Lillian Neuls. From 2010-2014, she served as the President of the Pug Rescue of Austin and devotes most of her free time volunteering with Texas Humane Heroes animal shelter and donating blood for We Are Blood bank.. She has been a member of the Round Rock ISD visual art faculty since 2009.
