Join musician, Dr. Keith Mitchell, in a survey
of what harmonica playing is all about. Learn the skills you will need to
play your favorite melodies. We will cover the history of the harp, the
variety of harmonica types, and how to play “by ear” without the need to read
music notation. In this survey session we will explore the musical genres for
which the harmonica is popular, listen to examples, and share online resources
for ongoing mastery. This intro class will focus on the ten hole diatonic
harmonica in the key of C. This session will be most appropriate for
adult learners. All attendees who pre-register will receive a free C harmonica.
This program is intended for those 55 and up, but anyone 18 and up may register. Refreshments will be provided.
